In what areas are your services available?
HealthTouch provides service throughout Rhode Island.
Who needs in-home care?
Many people may need in-home care. Often we find that people who live alone and have trouble with one or more activities of daily living (bathing, meal preparation, walking, etc.) require in-home care. However, many elderly may not live alone, but still require assistance in the home, whether it is to prevent falling, help getting to and from doctor’s appointments, or just companionship to prevent loneliness, which can lead to depression.
How much does the service cost?
All services are billed on an hourly basis. While there is a two-hour weekly minimum, we only provide care upon your request and only bill for the services we provide. The average fees range from $16.00 per hour to $27.00 per hour, with nurses costing a bit more.
Are the services covered by insurance?
Unfortunately, many times these services are not covered by insurance. Most insurances require the person have a skilled need such as nursing, physical, occupational or speech therapy. However, because HealthTouch is affiliated with VNA of Care New England, our staff is trained to recognize the need for skilled care, and can make a referral to the person’s doctor so that he or she can order skilled care, which may be covered by insurance.
Do you accept long-term care insurance?
Yes, HealthTouch does accept most long term care insurance policies and we will work with the provider of insurance to determine which services will be covered.
How do you select your caregivers?
All of our caregivers are carefully interviewed and screened prior to becoming employees of HealthTouch. They undergo a full background check and have completed the necessary training required for their position. Every HealthTouch employee is bonded and insured.
Why should I use HealthTouch instead of another agency?
There are multiple reasons to choose HealthTouch:
- HealthTouch is licensed by the Rhode Island Department of Health. Many providers of private pay home care in Rhode Island are not. Because we are a licensed agency, we have to follow strict guidelines and regulations regarding how we provide care and how our employees are trained and monitored. Any agency you choose should be licensed.
- HealthTouch is accredited by the Joint Commission.
Many providers of private pay home care in Rhode Island are not accredited by a national accreditation organization. The Joint Commission accredits HealthTouch every three years and requires a rigorous and thorough process to ensure all of our policies and procedures are upheld.
- HealthTouch is part of the Care New England Health System.
Being affiliated with one of Rhode Island’s largest health care systems affords us access to many resources across the continuum of care. If your loved one requires more care than HealthTouch can safely provide, we can recommend many other options, whether it’s skilled care, inpatient rehabilitation or even hospitalization.
- HealthTouch has more than 100 staff members who provide care for many people throughout Rhode Island.
Don't just trust us, ask around. Ask your neighbor, a co-worker, anybody who has worked with us in the past. Former patients are our best advertising because we provide outstanding, reliable care for your loved ones.
We would be more than happy to discuss our caregivers and the services they provide with you. Please do not hesitate to contact us to find out more information.
